HOW WE GOT STARTED

Well it's actually a really long story, so let's hit the highlights. You have most likely heard  the expression "a dollar and a dream"...well, it was nothing like that. It was more like an old YMCA building and a group of people who knew that God was about to do  something amazing through their obedience to Him. Oh yeah! Throw in a recycled hippy that God has used in incredible ways over the past three decades to start and lead an incredible church in Clifton park (Temple Baptist) and you've got the gist of where C3 came from. We know that C3 was in the mind of God before any of us were born and if God wills, C3 will still be going strong when we kick the bucket. The Lord has chosen to use us at this time to expand the local church; for that we are a thankful.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

What does being "SAVED" mean?

Salvation is what Christ provided for us when He lived a perfect life and died on the cross for our sins. By the power of God, He rose to life, and now sits at the right hand of his father!  He listens to our daily prayers until eternity. Salvation is only for those who believe that their sin deserves eternal separation from God in hell and salvation is simply a total dependence on Christ's gift, (eternal life).

Why should I get baptized?

Baptism is for those who have accepted Christ's gift of salvation, and to profess publicly their decision to follow Christ in their daily lives.

What about Infant Baptism?

Although infant baptism demonstrates a commitment on the part of the parents, baptism does not declare one's salvation. The Bible instructs us to accept the gift of salvation, and lastly, to demontstrate this by public baptism.  Salvation must come first in order that we may demonstrate the order of baptism.

What is communion?

Communion is one of the two "ordinances" in scripture.  Communion for believers is a time which is specifically set aside  to reflect on Christ dying on the cross for our sins.  We are instructed to participate in communion enough in order that we may never forget the price that Jesus paid dying on the cross for our sins.

What kind of music is played in the worship service?

We strive to have various styles of music, which remains consistent in lyrical content. Basically, whether  there be one acoustic guitar playing, or vocals singing soft songs and hymns, or an entire worship band,  we commit to singing truthful, passionate lyrics with all of our hearts, soul, and mind.  The style of music at any given service depends wholly on the talents on stage that particular day. We strive to unify wholly as a church congregation,  rather than the desire of the church to achieve a certain sound.

Why is the volume of the music so loud and why is the room so dark?

It is not our goal to create a performance/concert atmosphere through our Sunday morning worship. However, it is our desire to give the best of our efforts and talents  as an offering to God.  We strive to play our music at a volume that is loud enough to allow people to sing without feeling awkward, allowing it all to fit into the style of music. We honestly do fail at this task at times.  We know that volume is in the ear of the listener (not all people hear the same thing), but we try our best to be accurate for all.

We feel that the dark room helps people focus more on the worship in whole, and allows us the freedom to worship without the feeling of being frowned upon.  The use of stage lighting  is simply  for the musicians and enhances reflection to the mood of the music; not show-worthy.  We strive to glorify God in all that we do.

Does C3 have classes for my kids?

In this world we live in, there are a couple topics that almost everyone takes seriously: paying taxes and caring for our children.  We can't change the government in paying our taxes . However, we have taken great measures in protection and to teach all children that God sends our way.  Our goal is to equip each child with God's word, the Bible.  First and foremost we teach them about the gift of salvation. Our goal is to "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he shall not depart from that!"  It is our hope that the children look forward to attending CrossRoads Community Church on a weekly basis, to the extent they want to invite their friends as well to reach them to Christ.  We also think its "cool" when C3 kidz bring their parents to church.

What does it mean to be a member at C3?

The best way to describe a C3 member is active.  We are attempting to change this world one life at a time with the good news that God loves them. The only way to reach that goal is to use our God given talents. Makes sense, huh? We call this using our spiritual gifts. Scripture tells us that we all have spiritual gifts and that if we are going to be effective for God, we must use our gifts for Him. Membership takes a period of a few months, in order that we may strive to utilize people where their God given talents fit best in our church. We want people to serve where they are happy and most effective for God in their ministry.
